Dr Gan Wee Hoe

Dr Gan Wee Hoe is dually accredited in Occupational Medicine and Aviation Medicine. He is Director of the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Unit at the Singapore General Hospital and Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. He also serves on the Council of Public Health and Occupational Physicians, Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Dr Gan completed his Basic Specialty Training in Internal Medicine, followed by Advanced Specialty Training in Occupational Medicine. He pursued the Master of Public Health program at the National University of Singapore and graduated with distinction, winning the Society of Occupational Medicine Gold Medal (top graduate in Occupational and Environmental Health), the Richard Gillis Prize (top graduate in Industrial Hygiene) and the Tye Cho Yook Gold Medal (for being the overall top graduate of the MPH program). He was previously a Visiting Consultant in Occupational Medicine with Tan Tock Seng Hospital, being joining SGH in September 2017. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (Occupational Medicine) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh).

Dr Gan was with the Singapore Armed Forces for more than 17 years, with his last appointment being Chief Air Force Medical Officer and concurrently Assistant Chief of Medical Corps. He received his Aviation Medicine training in the United Kingdom and belonged to the pioneer batch of Aviation Medicine specialists in Singapore after the specialty’s formal accreditation by the Ministry of Health in 2014. He is the current President of the Society of Aviation Medicine Singapore, Member of the Aviation Medicine Subspecialty Training Committee, Member of the Civil Aviation Medical Board under the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, and Academician of the International Association of Aviation & Space Medicine.

Dr Gan serves on specialist committees and working groups in the Ministry of Health, Academy of Medicine Singapore and SGH, in areas of Occupational and Preventive Health for healthcare workers and our population.
