Before your visit

Q. How do I prepare for my appointment?

  • If you have been requested to perform any tests or scans, please complete them before your appointment.
  • If you are required to fast before your appointment, please follow the specific instructions that were shared with you.
  • If you need help, please call 6321 4377 during office hours.

Q. What do I bring for my appointment?
Please bring along your:

  1. Outpatient Appointment Card (for existing patients)
  2. Singapore NRIC, Birth Certificate (if you are under 15) or Passport and Employment Pass / Work Permit / Dependent pass
  3. Civil Service Card / Public Service Card (for civil servants and their dependants only)
  4. Any other Medical Benefits Eligibility Card/documents

If this is your first visit, please bring along the items listed above and:

  1. Referral letter from your polyclinic / other healthcare institutions/ private doctor
  2. Medication, if any
  3. X-ray and investigation records (within the last 6 months), if any

During your visit, here's what to expect... 

Q. Which doctor will I see?
Subsidised patients will receive team-based care led by an assigned specialist. Non-subsidised patients will receive team-based care led by their choice of specialist. Please be assured that patients receive the same quality of care regardless of their subsidy status.

Q. How long will my visit take?
The time for your visit may take an hour or up to three hours, depending on the complexity of the conditions seen in the clinic on the day. Long consultation waiting times can also occur when doctors are called to attend to emergencies in the
operating theatres or wards, or if consultations of patients ahead of you take longer due to complications. There may also be situations where you may have to wait for the results of your scans or tests to facilitate further medical advice.

Q. How many patients are there before me?
Most of our clinics provide queue reminders via SMS. You may visit other areas within the hospital while waiting to see your doctor. You will receive an SMS alert when there are about three persons before you.

Payment can be made using cash, NETS, credit card (Mastercard/VISA) or local cheques. Details here.

Q. How do I get there?
You are encouraged to take public transport as parking facilities are limited. Directions to SGH and information on Car Parks here.

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please do so at least three working days before the scheduled appointment. This will help another patient waiting for medical attention to get an earlier appointment.
